Abstract

These Notes have the aim to place Mário de Andrade’s comments on Ulysses among the early criticism of Joyce’s novel.

  • Munira H Mutran, University of São Paulo
    Munira H. Mutran is Associate Professor of Irish Literature in the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences at the University of São Paulo, former Chair of the Brazilian Association of Irish Studies (at present Honorary Chair) and Doctor Honoris Causa of NUI/Maynooth. Her research is on contemporary Irish Theatre and Fiction. She is author of Album de Retratos. George Moore, Oscar Wilde e W.B. Yeats (São Paulo: Humanitas/FAPESP, 2002; editor of Uma Antologia do Conto Irlandês (São Paulo: Olavo Brás/ABEI, 1996) and Sean O’Faolain’s Letters to Brazil (São Paulo: Humanitas/CNPq, 2005); co-editor of Kaleidoscopic Views of Ireland (2003), Irish Studies in Brazil (2005), ABEI Journal – The Brazilian Journal of Irish Studies (since 1999); and A Garland of Words: For Maureen O’Rourke Murphy (2010), among other important publications.
