    Andrea Martins Lameirão Mateus holds a PhD from the University of SãoPaulo on the work of North American poet Jerome Rothenberg who created the concepts of ethnopoetics and total translation. She has studied the avant-garde movements from Modernism to contemporaneity and has published translations by several renowned writers, such as D.H. Lawrence, Edgar Allan Poe, Washington Irving and Gertrude Stein. She teaches English language and literature for more than twenty years.
