Abstract

The anorogenic alkaline Mandira Granitoid (southern São Paulo State, Brazil) is host for interesting mineralizations, mostly polymetallic sulphides. Previous work carried out in the area has revealed that mineralization is closely associated with intensely fractured zones and preferentially found in the biotite-riebeckite granite facies. Visual interpretation of radar images and visual and digital multiseasonal analysis of LANDSAT-MSS images have been utilized in order to define both anomalous spectral and textural targets, supposedly related to lithologic variations, and lineament patterns, presumably reflecting structural features.Although the results regarding rock discrimination are not especially remarkable, lineament analysis, combined with field investigation, has significantly improved structural knowledge of the area and, together with other available data, has proved to be useful for selecting potencial targets for mineral prospecting
