Resumo

This paper provides the first description of cuticles of Paranocladus? fallax FLORIN, 1940, a species initially established on material lacking a cuticle. The genus Paranocladus was erected on material having cuticle from other locality. Our material comes from Lower Permian strata of Cambui, NE Paraná State, near the locality that yelded the specimen of P. ? fallax. The present study shows that the lower cuticle of this species presents some peculiarities that contrast with the diagnosis of the genus Paranacladus. It is probable that further studies will confirm the doubt already expressed by FLORIN regarding the generic assignment of this conifer species.
