Arenaceous and conglomeratic rocks were found mingled with volcanics of akaline composition lying directly on the crystaline basement, 12 km north Poços de Caldas Alkaline Massif. Petrographic and field observation sindicate that the conglomeratic sediments aregenetically related to the tectonism which affected the Alkaline Massif.
