Abstract

The Cenozoic sedimentary deposits of Angola were affected by several changes in the regional base level, uplifts and drainage downcuttings, associated to climate oscillations. The Tertiary fluviatile, fluvio-deltaic and desertic sedimentary deposits of southwestern Angola, the marine Quaternary cover of the Moçâmedes, Benguela and Cuanza Mesozoic - Tertiary and the several Kalahari Formation (T) reworking cycles of northeastern Angola, in the Malanje District and Lunda Region, belong to those episodes. The Pliocene - Pleistocene limit is well shown in Angola by coastal upllft, formation of a southern dune sand desert, the deposition of surficial sedimentary cover on the plateaus and the fust Kalahari saods reworking episode.
