This paper, the first one of a series of papers, deals with a paleoecological study of Cenozoic foraminiferal assemblages from cores from a well drilled at Caravelas, State of Bahia, Brazil. The authors present herein the methodological approach as welI as the employed paleoecological parameters. The conclusions will be presented in papers to be issued later.
