Olivine, enstatite, chromium-pyrope as well as diamond have been identified in Venezuelan alluvial diamonds using X-ray diffraction and the electron micro probe. Most of the inclusions are idiomorphic; furthermore, they have dimensions ranging from 100 up to 500 microns. Olive and enstatite are both highly magnesian and almost depleted in chemical impurities. The garnets which are red purple to wine in color are particularly rich in chromium. Their end-member are essentially pyrope, knorringuite, and almandine with some grossularia, espessartite and andradite as minor constituents. All the analysed inclusions belong to a lherzolitic mineral assemblage being similar to those previously reported from other worldwide localities.
