Abstract

This article discusses the senses of zootechnics from a heideggerian point of view, drawn by the author in the 1953 essay “The question concerning technology” [Die frage nach der Technik]. The article ties the discussion on zootechnics with an ethnographic fieldwork realized in some public events organized by the brazilian livestock sector between 2011 e 2012. The main subject of the research was to understand how the ontological status of farm animals is constructed trough the discourses of Brazilian agribusiness. Taking the work of Ingold as an intermediate point between Heidegger’s discussion and the original ethnographical path, the article outlines a reflection about the “setting in order” of animal bodies through modern zootechnics and its correlated knowledge.
