Abstract

This article presents a brief overview of the creation and activities of the Afro-Brazilian Archives Network between October 2022 and June 2025. The Network, proposed and coordinated by the Afro-Brazilian Museum Association, a Social Organization of Culture that manages the Emanoel Araujo Afro-Brazilian Museum, in partnership with the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries of the State of São Paulo, currently brings together forty-six museological, cultural, or memory initiatives from twelve states that safeguard tangible and intangible cultural assets produced or recognized by Black people or communities to reference the artistic, cultural, and historical achievements of the Black population in Brazil. Currently under development, the Afro-Brazilian Archives Network promotes partnerships, publicizes the mapping of related initiatives it undertakes, holds virtual meetings, and organizes annual in-person gatherings.
