Abstract

A significant population of foreigners reside in the cinematographic narratives since the beginning of times. Mostly in the science fiction ones. These narratives have been opening space to the representation of the other, or others, to which are attributed a threatening nature. Along the confrontation against such enemies, the communities self-referred to as us (the representatives of mankind) are confined to the social groups that hold the greatest economic, technologic or belic power. According to the narratives selected for this paper, American society appears as the representative of mankind as a whole and it fights the threat brought by the others. They can be our neighbors, immigrants, black people, virtually every foreigner, anyone coming from unknown territories or from their own land. All of these categories, the aliens, are suposably threatening and to fight against them, attacking is the best defense strategy.
