This article is an excerpt from an exploratory study conducted in 2022 at a public school in the district of Campo Limpo-SP. The school was chosen due to the significant number of Venezuelan children and adolescents enrolled. Interviews were conducted with school administrators, teachers, and two Venezuelan mothers, as well as participation in a class of the "Portas Abertas Program: Portuguese for immigrants." The Program was considered an important space for social inclusion by the interviewees. The interviews made it possible to understand some of the reasons that have led Venezuelans and other immigrants to settle in Campo Limpo, such as the price of rent, housing occupations, the expansion of the subway, commercial establishments and informal commerce, and, above all, the existence of immigrant networks.
