Childhood and environment: Serra Grande’s children knowledge about sea and fish

This research was developed in the village of Serra Grande a district of Uruçuca city. The objective was to investigate the knowledge the new generations. In order to obtain these information and the perception of the new generations (children) were applied techniques such as the analysis of texts and drawings made by students from a public school in the village. The qualitative analysis of the texts was made by the interpretation of its content. In relation to the drawings, its interpretation was made considering what had been observed in the texts and interviews. From the analysis of the texts and drawings we can see clearly that the transmission of knowledge occurs between the different generations, especially with regard to fish species of greatest commercial importance. Through the texts and drawings, the children showed in an impressive way, how they perceive their reality, expressing an understanding of the difficulties faced by the fishers and by the community as whole.Downloads
