Abstract

This text, about Hemda Ben-Yehuda, presents a fundamental figure from the period of the revival of the Hebrew Language in the era of the national awakening of the Jewish people in their land. Hemda, born Pola Jonas, became a central character in the quest to transform Hebrew into a vernacular language, when she married Eliezer Ben-Yehuda in 1892. But, in addition, Hemda followed her own path, becoming a journalist and writer. Therefore, here we present the translation into Portuguese of three of his short stories on children's themes and originally published in Warsaw in 1902.
