Este artigo apresenta uma tradução da ode 2.19 de Horácio, com introdução e comentário. O poema, além de ser central na caracterização de Baco, é relevante quanto ao conteúdo programático das Odes, evidenciando transformações na matéria e na persona do poeta. A tradução, em verso livre, procura aproximar-se do significado e do conteúdo do texto original em latim. O comentário inclui notas sobre aspectos poéticos, históricos e culturais, bem como questões de ordem filológica e interpretativa.
