Abstract

Considering the paradigmatic character of Antonio Candido's work in literary studies in Brazil, we inquire about what is resistant, after all, in the resistance to theory insistently echoed, from the Uspian master, in the manner of a profession of faith. Then follows an analysis of the central role of literary historiography in the consolidation and perpetuation of canonical double-faced violence in the Brazilian academic-school environment.
