Who or what is criticized: the critic's critique's prolegomena

This article starts with the presentation of a problem to be defined as the accusation of nonsense as well as the mobilization of a legal vocabulary that aims to neutralize, from different reactions, criticisms of Antonio Candido's intellectual and critical project. Starting with a text by Anita de Moraes published on the journal Cerrados, the article rereads the author's arguments as well as presents some reactions not only to this text, but also to other statements that seek, in a way, to banish the possibility of discussion, that is, the criticism of criticism, when the central figure becomes the aforementioned critic, Antonio Candido. It is from this scenario, criticism and its different reactions, that the article seeks to discuss the possibility of imagining if there would be, then, elements capable of determining what a form of criticism of criticism is and what it is about, focusing itself on the uspian tradition of literary criticism.
