Abstract

Through the use of metaphors aimed at both the palate and the food, culminating in a sour /sweet dichotomy, the short stories "Feliz aniversário", by Clarice Lispector and "Doce de Teresa", by Flávia Savary present oppressed elderly female characters and manipulated by a dominant group. For this reason, this article intends to analyze how these women behave in the face of such domination. In addition, it aims to study them in relation to the "wilderness". This, according to Oxford anthropologists Shirley and Edwin Ardener, is an area where women express what is repressed by a dominant group.
