Abstract

This article presents (1) a study of the works written by the North American poet Hart Crane (1899 – 1932), (2) a theoretical reflection on literary translation (based on the works by Antoine Berman, Gérard Genette, Mário Laranjeira, and Haroldo de Campos), and (3) two translations of poems by the author. The objective is to interpret the complexity of Crane’s works, highlight the importance of translating them (for the translations which have already been done are scarse), and propose , as a sample of a wider project, the translation of two poems.
