“O método Crítico de Antonio Candido” is the translation of “The critical method of Antonio Candido”, by João Camillo Penna, carried out by Lúcia Ricotta V. Pinto. Originally published in English in 1997, in volume IV of the Santa Barbara Portuguese Studies periodical, Camillo Penna's essay is an extensive and rigorous speculation about the problem of the differentiation of the aesthetic and its ways of overcoming through the candidian method of articulating the social exteriority to the text.
