This article aims, by resuming Fernandes's (2019) research, to evaluate the Japanese Language and Literature students' perceptions and opinions regarding the remote education at the University of Brasília resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this, the results obtained in Fernandes's work are brought back by revisiting the concepts of e- and m-learning, Distance Learning (DL), and Emergency Remote Education (ERE). Furthermore, remote teaching and its paradigm shifts are addressed by considering aspects of the cognitive environment. Then, the results of this research conducted through an online questionnaire are presented and discussed in light of the theories presented. Finally, some considerations about the results are presented.
