Abstract

The objective of this article is to examine the relationship between organism and society in light of the work of Georges Canguilhem (1904-1995), specifically in the text entitled The problem of regulations in organism and society ([1955], 2005), the result of a conference carried out at Israeli Alliance and published in the book Writings on Medicine. The temptation to assimilate society to the organism and, conversely, the organism to a society, was one of the philosophical problems posed by Canguilhem ([1955], 2005). It is precisely this section that we will focus on with the aim of pointing out positive and negative developments of these Canguillhemian interdisciplinary movements, as well as fundamental differences between organism and society.
