This article consists of a compilation of passages from the Aristotelian treatise, known by the Latin title Magna Moralia, in which the moral theses attributed to Socrates, generically recognized as “Socratic intellectualism,” are critically examined. The Portuguese translations of the excerpts are accompanied, on the one hand, by explanatory notes of a philosophical nature and, on the other, by philological and grammatical comments. In the introduction, we present a brief history of the treatise and an overview of Aristotle's contribution to the debate on the Socratic problem.
