Abstract

This article intends to analyze the section entitled “De gris en plus noir”, from the collection “Regards et jeux dans l'espace”, by Saint-Denys Garneau, based on the text “Poésie, paysage et sensation” by Michel Collot, in which the author observes how the landscape can represent, in poetry, the sensations of the poem’s poetic persona. As a result of the “duality” present in some of Garneau’s poems, which was also underlined by Jean-Louis Major, a spiral movement was identified throughout this section, traced by elements of the nature, such as the wind and the fire. In order to achieve this goal, this text initially addresses some concepts of landscape and its poetic representation, and then it examines each of the poems in the section, identifying how these matters are produced within Garnelian writing.
