Our text approaches individual and collective memories experienced with Master Pinguim, intertwined with moments lived with Master Gato Preto and some works developed by the Group of Capoeira Angola Guerreiros de Senzala, pointing out the creation of the Afro-Brazilian Arts Center at the University of São Paulo (USP) until current days. The dynamics of the text is divided into two parts, with different authorship in each of them: the first part, in a narrative tone, refers to the period from 1997, the beginning of the Group’s work at USP, to 2007, the year of the Center's official creation. The second part moves between personal accounts and their connections regarding the epistemological and pedagogical importance of Mestre Pinguim's work at the University of São Paulo, which brought together other masters of renowned knowledge in this collective construction that is the Afro-Brazilian Arts Center, many of whom started to visit and revisit our Place year after year.
