Abstract

In the wake of reflections on the centenary of the Week of Modern Art, some of the main archive institutions of Brazilian literature are observed and the outstanding role of the leaders of the 1922 movement is pointed out. Considering that the notion of historical and artistic heritage as well as the management of preserved documents result from actions of material and intellectual modernization of societies, a route was traced through IEB-USP, AMLB-FCRB, CEDAE-UNICAMP and AEM-CEL-UFMG. The opening moment of these institutions corresponded to the reception of modernist collections, having had the indispensable support of the heirs of the Week's legacy. This panoramic visit to the history of preservation of literary collections aims to contribute to the critical review of recent memory as a reinforcement of the articulation between the tasks of conserving, transforming and inventing.
