Mário de Andrade, the parnassians's reader: study and development of critical

Abstract

Mário de Andrade’s library preserves, in its marginalia, aspects of a plural writing. In the case of his Parnassians books, the marginalia allows the reader to follow the readings made by Mario when a young poet, although already a canon contester. This reading leaves marks of the steps of a work and points skills and interests of the reader in the observation of forms and others solutions. Nevertheless, as this reader is interested in renewing, he becomes a poet and a critic committed to modernism. In the pages of Brazilian and French Parnassians there is a significant number of Mario’s notes that refer to the analysis of the poems structure, the stylistic solutions, the versification, the sound and the vocabulary. In these volumes, the reader suggests alternatives, writes words down, comments and highlights points of interest. The reading notes make the printed text a field of study and creation; these are manuscripts of various types and decode matrices. To analyze Mário de Andrade’s dialogues in his reading notes means approaching his choices, many times materialized, that keep some instances of the artists creative and critical process.
