Imaginários institucionais: ficção seriada televisiva e o imperialismo cultural estadunidense

Résumé

Este artigo analisa o papel das séries televisivas institucionais estadunidenses, especialmente as médicas, como ferramentas de soft power. Sob perspectivas construtivista e de imperialismo cultural, o estudo argumenta que essas produções moldam percepções globais sobre instituições dos EUA, difundindo ideais e imaginários. Elas fortalecem a autoridade, historicizam práticas e exaltam virtudes das instituições estadunidenses. Destaca-se a participação ativa de entidades reais na regulação dessas narrativas ficcionais, ressaltando sua relevância na projeção cultural dos EUA. Conclui-se que as séries institucionais conectam o público a estruturas sociais complexas, exercendo papel fundamental na diplomacia cultural contemporânea.
