“Trump é um gangsta”: a revolta conformista dos rappers trumpistas

Nos estudos sobre o rap, parece existir um consenso de que esse gênero musical é uma instância privilegiada de contato entre estética e política, com uma vocação para posicionamentos progressistas. A análise efetuada neste ensaio percorre um caminho diferente, investigando as ligações entre o rap mainstream estadunidense e a extrema-direita contemporânea. Para isso, são analisadas as (crescentes) declarações de apoio de rappers bem-sucedidos dos EUA a Donald Trump nas eleições presidenciais de 2016 a 2024. Assim, pretendo demonstrar que as ligações do rap com pautas da esquerda não devem ser tomadas como pressuposto, já que há aproximações entre valores propagados por rappers e pelo fascismo neoliberal.
