Regularities and differences in thematics of the strips of Escola de Passarinhos by João Marcos Ferreira Mendonça

Abstract

It aims to observe regularities and differences in terms of thematics and resources of the comics language in the comic strip series Escola de Passarinhos and identify the characteristics of the comic strips or political cartoons. The corpus is made up of strips published in the profile of João Marcos Ferreira Mendonça in the social network Instagram, The methodology was based on the compilation of strips in semi-annual periods from October 2019 to December 2023; however,  only three strips will be addressed in this article: the first strip, with subtitles, High School; the second strip, without subtitles and with an implicit theme; and the third strip, without subtitles, but with an explicit theme. To support this study, theoretical foundations, subsidies and contributions from Ramos (2011; 2017; 2022), Silva (2004) and Eisner (2010) are sought to carry out an analysis that brings to light and highlights characteristics of comics, themes and their contents.
