an indivisible relationship

Abstract

The present article intends to provide an approximation to the understanding of nature’s aesthetic apprehension through various lenses, ranging from the Greek philosophical theory in the antiquity, the conception of nature from the utilitarian way, the modern vision, to the contemporary landscape interventions, approaching the treatment received by the landscape resulting from actions of the human being, which follows the behavioral variation of society according to its ideologies, its political and economic objectives - a dynamic that has repercussions on art, architecture and landscape architecture. For that purpose, important philosophers such as Georg Simmel, in his text Philosophy of Landscape, and Joachin Ritter, in his Landscape: Function of Aesthetics in the Modern Society, among other authors, are crucial for understanding the emergence of the notion of landscape. Through an aesthetic approach, by sensorial perception, we try to present the function of art as an instance that rescues the landscape, the nature that was lost in human beings’ memory.
