Abstract

In a globalized world, the landscape becomes "virtual" It can be reinterpreted and recreated. It can also be reproduced in every point of the earth w ith its essential characteristics. Thus, the cloning of specific landscapes and the creation of "placelessness" become possible. In a society w here the greatest hum an pleasure is apparently the consumption, the visual and functional uniformization of open public spaces in the urban environm ent becomes evident. Parks look more and more like shopping malls and malls becom e "greener and greener" With the proliferation of them e parks, the idyll is transformed into a sort of open-air shopping centre. This paper makes a critical analysis of some landscape projets, by exemplifying the artificialization/uniformization of urban landscapes in countries like Brazil, Germany, United States and Japan
