Between biomes and relief patterns: diversity and dynamics of the immediate region of Cachoeira do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul

This work aims to recognize and characterize the diversity of the landscape of Geographical Region of Cachoeira do Sul (GRCS), understanding it as a means and a product, a place of conditioning factors and changing scenario. To accomplish this, the research was supported by the theoretical-methodological deepening of Landscape Ecology; crossover from data and information in Geographic Information Systems interface (ArcGIS Pro- ESRI) to elaborate thematic mappings; and fieldwork. As a result, the characterization of the region stands out, relating morphological aspects of the landscape defined by the biomes, relief patterns, together with the different types of land use and cover and land tenure structure, having the matrix as a background. From this, the quantitative data were generated, through landscape metrics, characterizing the dynamics and processes between 1985 and 2020, which were synthesized in a comparative framework. Based on systemic analysis of the landscape, the results found reinforces the intensification of agricultural areas as the dominant matrix in the face of a landscape and structural complexity reinforces of the GRCs, showing to an important tool for territorial ordering and environmental planning.
