Grupos de Eventos Estresantes y Salud Mental de las Mujeres que Envejecen

Las mujeres se enfrentan a acontecimientos estresantes específicos en su envejecimiento que repercuten en su salud mental. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar los perfiles de las mujeres de mediana y avanzada edad en cuanto al número de acontecimientos estresantes y su salud mental, y caracterizar las diferencias sociodemográficas y de salud entre los grupos. Participaron 545 mujeres quienes completaron un formulario en línea que contenía: un Cuestionario de Autoinforme (SRQ-20); y un Inventario de Acontecimientos Estresantes en la Vejez. Se llevó a cabo un análisis de conglomerados ( Neighbourhood Based Clustering ) y análisis bivariantes. Se identificó: (1) un grupo de mujeres de mediana edad con mayor número de eventos estresantes y peor salud mental, quienes eran más vulnerables socialmente; (2) un grupo de mujeres mayores, blancas, con menos eventos estresantes y mejor salud mental, que tenían buenas condiciones económicas y psicosociales. Estos perfiles revelan los escenarios susceptibles de sufrir acontecimientos estresantes y problemas de salud mental.
