Comunicação científica dos dados de pesquisa sobre biodiversidade global: evolução dos registros de metadados
Abstract
Making data accessible allows further research, provides information for decision-making and contributes to transparency in science. This paper presents an ongoing study about the scientific communication of the global biodiversity data sets, analyzed under the perspective of metadata use throughout the scientific information flow. The proposed methodology aims to establish a baseline by identifying the internationally recommended metadata standards and compare it with existent metadata evidences. This study is grounded in a qualitative and descriptive research of metadata evidences that will be guided by the berry picking method. Furthermore, the systematic review and meta-synthetic analysis were defined as methods to collect and analyze metadata evidences extracted from scientific articles and metadata records related to biodiversity research data sets of public repositories. The expected outcome is to outline metadata use in biodiversity data sets in a comparative analysis view to recommended standards. It is also expected to identify practices that have been adopted in the management, communication and governance of biodiversity research data.
