Sobre políticas públicas e políticas de informação
Abstract
It presents an excerpt from the bibliographic review of the doctoral thesis addressing the studies on Information Policies, cross-sectional area, based on a bibliographic survey on two main thematic fields: Public Policies and Information Science. It etymologically defines the term 'Politics', highlighting its polysemic character, focusing on the dimension of the term in English policy, referring to public policies, that is, public action, to discuss, elaborate, propose and implement public policies for the solution of social problems, seeking to establish governance, justice and social welfare. Thus, we recognize the State as one of the largest producers and accumulators of information, which must also act in its dissemination, having great power in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public information policies, fundamental to the exercise of citizenship, reduction of inequalities and strengthening of democracy.
