This article is based upon research work performed at a large state-owned company operating in the field of warehousing and distribution of agricultural products. On one hand, the article's main objective is studying the determining factors of executive pay and pay satisfaction as demonstrated by both partial and multiple regression and correlation analyses between pay and pay satisfaction (dependent variables) and demographic factors • (independent variables, such as age, job level, time with company, level of education) that presumably exert influence upon them. On the other hand, it also includes for comparison purposes, some opinions by the executive personnel on the relative importance of the demografic factors in determining their salaries. The article represents a first approach to the problem; therefore, it is less important in its results than as an idea for further investigation in the area of wage and salary administration in the near future.
