Abstract

The research analyzed the existence and efficacy of theoretical references that help the evaluation of required information workers competences. The research sources were the ones that deal with information competences decomposed in required knowledge, abilities and attitudes. The method for validation of the references evolved of an experiment of development and application of an instrument for information competences analyses to be used for processes of evaluation and selection of students-candidates for a scientific program for a higher education institution (HEI). The experiment was conducted by researches and teachers-researches of the HEI with interest in the student selection for scientific research program, and it showed the importance of theoretical references that present in a decomposed way the competences that should be analyzed. The information sources were very useful to the process of ideas discussion about knowledge, abilities and attitudes to be analyzed, with a great influence in the key aspects to be analyzed, as well as in the scope of the instrument questions to the competences evaluation required to information workers.
