Subsídios governamentais e risco de insolvência nas instituições financeiras brasileiras

Resumo

Esta pesquisa examina a relação entre o recebimento de subsídios governamentais e o risco de insolvência das instituições financeiras brasileiras de capital aberto listadas na B3. Ao aplicar a análise de regressão, utilizando estimadores GMM System em uma amostra de 47 empresas no período entre 2010 e 2020, revelou-se que o recebimento de subsídios governamentais associa-se a um menor risco de insolvência mensurado. Contudo, os resultados divergem quando a amostra é segregada em instituições bancárias e não bancárias. Este estudo contribui para a literatura, uma vez que há um número limitado de trabalhos sobre o risco de insolvência no setor financeiro brasileiro. Tais evidências permitem ampliar a compreensão da eficácia desses subsídios como política pública ao sugerir que o recebimento de subsídios governamentais pode significar uma fonte de recurso capaz de gerar condições econômicas que conduzam a um menor risco de insolvência nas instituições financeiras.
