Dealing with religious assistance in nursing

Abstract

The majority of articles published concerning religious assistance in nursing, up to now, have dealt with specific religious practices of the better known religions among us. After mentioning religion as a basic need in one's life, the author dwells on the fundamentals for a more adequate assistance in this field, that may be helpful in orienting the professional as well as the student. These fundamentals cover the acceptance of the individual and his religion together with the provision of favorable surroundings in which to practice it, a knowledge of the principles that govern the practice, and the establishing and developping of faith in the patient by one's own example.
