During many years, the objective of the scientifc production on breast-feeding has been the product: milk. However, researches during the 90.s, performed by nurses, have shown that this focus is iatrogenic: milk becoming more important than people (the mothers in this case) and that the fortresses must be seen as persons who are breastfeeding (or trying to do so). The breast-feeding process can be very painful, also causing premature weaning. The author proposes, in view of these considerations, care that is centered on the person of the fortress. It must also be remembered that the fortress needs adequate social-ambient surroundings to achieve breast-feeding and it is society's duty to provide them.Downloads
