Diabetic ketoacidosis is a severe and acute condition in Type 1 Diabetes mellitus that is prompted by relative or absolute insulin deficiency. It is frequently related to stressful situations, in which stress hormones are elevated. It is considered a clinical emergency that requires immediate and effective intervention. This article, based on the physiopathology and the clinical manifestations, aims at providing clinical practice nursing recommendations for the management of diabetic ketoacidosis.Downloads
