The objective of this study was to analyze the use of relationship technology in care provided to patients with arterial hypertension. This is a qualitative study, conducted in eight Family Health Units from Jequié-Bahia. The study subjects were policy makers, health professionals and patients, totaling sixteen informants. Semi-structured interviews, systematic observation and documental analysis were performed in 2012. The data were submitted to thematic content analysis. Results showed that the professionals, especially nurses and community health workers, use light technology in the search for comprehensive care. On the other hand, some professionals have demonstrated biology-based practice, with emphasis on rules and procedures. It is concluded that there is a need to change professional-patient interactions, considering the uniqueness and autonomy of the patient and family in the construction of new forms of care.Downloads
