Introduction: More than 13,500 people in Brazil were infected with the hepatitis B virus in 2019. It is known that it’s prevalence isn’t evenly distributed, that may vary according to the region of the country considering socioeconomic level and vulnerability of the target population. The state of Alagoas was home to about 10.83% of hepatitis B cases in the Northeast region during the period 2010-2020, however, the literature lacks information about the epidemiological profile of Hepatitis B in Alagoas. Objectives: To analyze the prevalence and related factors of Hepatitis B in the state of Alagoas during the period 2010-2020. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with analysis of secondary data from the State Department of Health of Alagoas, in the period 2010-2020. The variables analyzed were: reported cases and deaths due to hepatitis B, gender, age, color, form of transmission and education level. Prevalence, mortality and lethality rates were calculated. Descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation calculations, absolute and relative frequencies were calculated. Results: An expressive 1,420 cases of Hepatitis B were reported in the state of Alagoas during the period from 2010 to 2019, highlighting that the last year mentioned was responsible for 18.23% of the cases. As for the year 2020, 102 cases were reported, with the month of highest notification being February, showing 19.60% of the cases, and the lowest being May and June, with 1.96% each one. The most affected population was female, the age group between 20-39 years old, level of scholarity incomplete primary education, with sexual being the most prevalent form of transmission. Conclusions: Hepatitis B cases in Alagoas grew non-linearly in the period 2010-2019. The year 2020, marked by the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic, showed a drop in the number of cases, which may have been caused by improvements in public policies or by underreporting of cases. The data presented are in accordance with national studies.
