A doença COVID-19 atribuída ao novo coronavírus SARS-CoV-2, em dezembro de 2019 rapidamente tornou-se pandêmica, constituindo, portanto, uma crise global de saúde pública. A doença apresentou uma alta taxa de mortalidade, especialmente entre os idosos. Em Minas Gerais, a pandemia teve um impacto significativo, com a Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Passos desempenhando ações essenciais no atendimento dos pacientes através do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Pacientes com comorbidades, como doenças cardiovasculares, cerebrovasculares e diabetes mellitus, apresentaram resultados clínicos mais graves. A identificação e a estratificação dos riscos na admissão hospitalar são essenciais para aprimoramento da abordagem terapêutica da doença. Este projeto visa avaliar as alterações séricas de marcadores bioquímicos em pacientes diagnosticados com COVID-19 na Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Passos. Tal estudo buscou correlacionar os marcadores bioquímicos avaliados com a gravidade da doença, as respostas aos tratamentos e os desfechos clínicos, contribuindo para aprimorar as estratégias preventivas e terapêuticas contra a COVID-19.
