Manual Therapy Techniques in The Management of Slow Colonic Transit and Dyssynergic Defecation Constipation: Study Protocol for Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of manual therapy techniques in the management of slow colonic transit and dyssynergic defecation constipation. Method: A systematic literature review with meta-analysis that will follow PRISMA recommendations. Clinical trials will be considered from searches in the following databases: National Library of Medicine (PUBMED/MedLine), EMBASE (Elsevier), Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), and Virtual Health Library (BVS), without language or publication year restrictions. Relevant data will be extracted, and a meta-analysis will be conducted using the Review Manager V.5.4. The included studies will be assessed by quality and risk of bias, and we will observe clinical trial outcome indicators. This review will determine the applicability of manual therapy as a treatment option for symptom relief and improving quality of life in patients with intestinal constipation. Additionally, it will provide additional information for clinical treatment and other studies.
