Abstract

Umbilical endometriosis is a rare disorder, may be primary (spontaneous) or secondary (after surgery). Clinically, it is a reddish brown umbilical nodule, painful and variable size, with or without bleeding coinciding or not with menstrual period. The aim of the study is provide support for diagnosis of this pathology, in addition to literature review, updating health care about diagnostic methods and therapy. Report a case of woman began 7 years ago bleeding and pain in umbilical region in agreement with menstrual period, diagnosed umbilical endometriosis. Biopsy confirmed clinical hypothesis. Surgery treatment is therapeutic and diagnostic. Differential diagnoses are melanoma, foreign body granuloma and gastrointestinal tract metastasis.
