COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, emerged in December 2019 and quickly became a global public health crisis. The disease has shown a high mortality rate, particularly among the elderly. In Minas Gerais, the pandemic had a significant impact, with Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Passos playing a crucial role in patient care through the Unified Health System (SUS). Patients with comorbidities, such as cardiovascular, cerebrovascular diseases, and diabetes mellitus, exhibited more severe clinical outcomes. Identifying and stratifying risks at hospital admission are essential for improving disease management. This project aims to evaluate serum alterations of biochemical markers in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 at Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Passos. The study sought to correlate biochemical markers evaluated with disease severity, treatment responses, and clinical outcomes, contributing to enhanced preventive and therapeutic strategies against COVID-19.
