Introduction: Contraception through tubal ligation (LT) is a constitutional right, and doctors must be able to provide guidance. To this end, active forms of teaching, such as the use of simulators, have been established as an option for consolidating knowledge and skills. Thus, this work aimed to apply learning workshops with low fidelity models (MBF) to simulate the LT Pomeroy technique. Materials and methods: MBF were constructed with cheap materials. 34 medical students from UnB volunteered and the workshops were held, consisting of the presentation of the project, exposure of the theory and practice of the technique. Questionnaires were administered after each moment, to assess students' knowledge. Results: Before the workshop, 91.2% of students considered the opportunities offered by the college to learn surgical techniques to be insufficient. After practice, 78.1% judged their knowledge about LT to be satisfactory and 96.9% preferred to learn surgical techniques with MBF. Discussion: In the end, the majority of students considered their learning and their ability to guide family planning effective. It is estimated that, with changes to LT regulations in 2022, access to the method will be facilitated. In this context, the importance of training future doctors in providing guidance on this procedure is understood.
