Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that involves the immune system, and possesses a wide variety of triggering factors, such as physical trauma, emotional stress, infections and use of medication. These are influenced by epigenetic processes, such as DNA hypermethylation, overexpression of histones and dysregulation on miRNAs. OBJECTIVE: To highlight the main epigenetic processes related to psoriasis. METHODS: Review of the literature from the last 5 years available on the PubMed platform, based on the keywords Epigenetics, Skin, Psoriasis, Inflammatory skin diseases. Topics that had little expressiveness in terms of number of publications were excluded. RESULTS: Epigenetic pathways correlate with the genesis and development of psoriasis, confirming the epigenetic basis of the condition. CONCLUSION: In Psoriasis, the highest expression processes correspond to changes in the DNA histones and miRNAs.
